The U.S. Department of Education announced today that Central School District’s Coyote Canyon Elementary School has been recognized as a 2020 National Blue Ribbon School. This prestigious distinction, given to 367 schools nationwide in 2020, is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.
Coyote Canyon’s recognition is in the performance category of Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing School. Central School District’s Coyote Canyon is among California’s highest performing schools in closing achievement gaps between its student subgroups and all students. This accolade highlights the important strides Coyote Canyon has made in improving academic progress of English Learners, economically disadvantaged, special education students as well as other subgroups.
The coveted National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work and dedication of our teachers, support staff, administrators, families and Central School District community in creating a safe, welcoming school where students master challenging and engaging content.
